Police is Rongo have launched a manhunt for a former class 8 pupil at Arundo Primary School for allegedly assaulting the school’s head teacher.
According to the sub county commissioner Peter Okiring, the boy had gone to his former school for clearance when the incident occurred.
The boy is said to have assaulted Kepher Onsaongo when he asked him to return lost text books.
The suspect picked a crude weapon and attacked the head teacher leaving him with serious injuries.
The incident occurred when teachers were supervising exams in classes.
Onsaongo who was later found lying unconscious in his office was rushed to Nyamarembe Health Center before he was referred to Nyangema Hospital in Kisii.
The boy took off on a motorcycle after the attack while the locals searched for him.
The student joined Arundo primary school after being expelled from another school but failed to complete class eight and is currently a boda boda operator.
Rongo branch KNUT executive secretary Eunice Bosco said that preliminary investigations conducted on the suspect indicated that he was a stubborn pupil.
“Teachers had expressed fear of his behavior and he was always lonely while in school. He joined the school in class 7 after being expelled from another school owing to his behavior,” Bosco said.
Authorities have urged locals to provide any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspect.
This comes barely weeks after another teacher was assaulted by three form four students in Trans Nzoia County.
Nicholas Bett, a mathematics teacher, said that the three boys hit him on the neck using a blunt object before attacking him with kicks and blows leaving him with injuries.
“While I was going to the washroom three boys attacked. They hit me with a blunt object, gave me some kicks and blows that made me unconscious. My neighbours came to my rescue,” Bett said
The incident was reported at Gituamba police station.
