Farouk Kibet: We Are Supporting Raila’s AU Bid Out Of Generosity

President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has claimed that the government’s move to support Raila Odinga’s African Union chairmanship bid is not a strategy for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Nandi, Farouk noted that they are not afraid of the ODM leader but their intentions are only aimed at being generous.

“We are not supporting him because we fear him. We are supporting him as a gift so that God can see us as generous people like other Kenyans. They should not see us as cowards, how can we fear a person that we defeated the other time?” he said.

He further slammed those who were opposing Raila’s bid. Kibet added that Rail and Ruto are friends and Ruto supporting Raila for the top position in African Union is a move aimed at promoting statesmanship over Partisanship.

“Sisi hatutaki hasara ya kila siku ashindwe aseme ameibiwa. Sijui mwizi anakuwanga wapi katikati ya hii kura. (We no longer want him to lose then come back to claim votes have been stolen. We do not where this thief is in every election circle),” he said.
