Details of Francis Ogolla’s Last Wish- Family Reveals

The late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla had instructed his family on burial plans before he died in a tragic chopper crash.

According to his family, the gallant soldier had indicated in his Will that, upon his demise, he be laid to rest within 72 hours.

So to honour Ogolla’s last wish, the family announced that he will be laid to rest at his family home in Alego Usonga, Siaya County on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

“It is with profound sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the funeral arrangements of CDF General Francis Omondi Ogolla, a gallant Military professional and a distinguished member of our community,” the family statement read in part.

“In honor of his humble nature, General Ogolla specified that his burial occur within 72 hours of his passing, echoing the profound truth that from dust we came and to dust we shall return,” it added.

“His family has dutifully chosen Sunday, April 21st, 2024 for his final farewell, to be held at his cherished home in Mor, Alego, Siaya County. This will be preceded by a heartfelt service at his local church in Nduru.”

A memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, where he found solace in his biweekly runs, the family further stated.

His death was confirmed by President William Ruto on Thursday, April 18 at the State House.

Ruto noted that Ogolla died in the line of duty at Sindar area in Elgeyo Marakwet County, alongside nine other military personnel.
