Controversial Kenyan and Canadian based lawyer Miguna Miguna should not celebrate yet even after receiving his new passport.
Miguna on Tuesday took to his official twitter handle to celebrate the good news of his passport being given back to him. According to him, president Ruto ensured that the same was delivered to him after it was destroyed by the former regime.
“1687 days after despot Uhuru Kenyatta, conman @RailaOdinga, Fred Matiang’i, @Karanjakibicho and @GKihalangwa CONSPIRED to illegally SEIZE and DESTROY my Kenyan Passport, President @WilliamsRuto has had a new one DELIVERED to me. Waiting for the LIFTING of RED ALERTS.”
However, Miguna should not celebrate yet despite receiving the passport because the main bone of contention was the red alert that was issued against him. That implies that Miguna’s passport will remain useless as long as the alerts are not flagged.
“I pity our brother Miguna. He is celebrating being given a basic item like passport which is his right. President Uhuru just pushed him to desperation and he is celebrating something which he should not. Anyway that booklet will remain meaningless as long as the red flags are there.” Said one of his followers.
A few days earlier, the controversial lawyer confessed that court orders had to be obeyed and that he would not beg for his rights to be respected. Consequently, he made it clear that the red alerts must be lifted come rain come shine.
“This is nonsense. Don’t try to distort my position because I’m more than capable of speaking for myself. Mr. @gathara is right: Court orders are NOT suggestions. They must be OBEYED UNCONDITIONALLY. Respect for my rights is not a favor. The Red Alerts must be lifted promptly.” He tweeted.
In the meantime, Miguna Miguna was expected to attend the swearing in ceremony of president William samoei Ruto together with his deputy Rigathi gachagua at the Kasarani stadium. However, that was not the case and it remained unclear why Ruto was not keen on inviting him to his inauguration.
