Deputy Inspector General of police Edward Mbugua has addressed the wife snatching allegations against him by a junior officer.
A junior police officer claimed that Mbugua had snatched his wife and warned him to stay away from her or else he would face dire consequences.
“The man who took my wife called me and introduced himself as my boss then further revealed that he is the Deputy Inspector General of Police. I didn’t believe it because I did not expect someone of Mbugua’s caliber to threaten his junior as he did,” the junior officer identified as Wycliffe Ombede narrated in tears.
Ombede said that he had spent a fortune on the woman in question who was only identified as Grace. He said that he had paid her college fees and catered for her personal needs since meeting her in 2008 while she was in form four.
The officer said that he had spent roughly over a million on the lady and had even paid Kshs150, 000 as her dowry.
“She was from a poor family so I financed her studies in medicine,” he lamented.
Addressing the issue, DIG Mbugua said that the junior officer confused names and the media picked it that way without further investigations.
Mbugua said that he is aware of a case where a KRA officer called John Mbugua is now married to a woman who was previously dating Ombede.
“The girl met with a young officer working with KRA, by the name of John Mbugua. They are staying together as wife now, not the way my officer and that woman were cohabiting because they were not legally married. The woman is legally married to a KRA officer by the name of John Mbugua, not Edward Mbugua, ” the deputy police boss said.Mbugua.
Mbugua said that such stories would have an effect on his family.
“How do you think my wife and children are feeling when they hear that their dad is involved? It has pained me. But naambiwa nawachie Mungu,” the DIG said.
He also asked journalists and reporters to look deeper into matters before reporting.
Ombede was charged with threatening to kill his ex-wife and her husband.
