Former energy cabinet secretary Davis Chirchir was on Wednesday announced as deputy president William Ruto’s new chief of staff.
However, his appointment has sent panic across the political divides given his role in the 2017 general elections that was nullified by the Maraga led supreme court.
In an internal Post Evaluation Report released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the commission stated that both Jubilee Party and NASA accessed their result transmission servers.
The report revealed that Jubilee’s chief agent then Mr. Davis Chirchir attempted to hack the IEBC server 24 times out of which he made 10 successful logins.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) claimed that Davis Chirchir hacked the IEBC servers and helped Jubilee rig the elections in favor of president Uhuru. Mr. Chirchir was a former IEBC official and a tech expert. He was in charge of Information Communication Technology at the IEBC.
During the 2017presidential petition hearing, NASA lawyers led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo stated before the court that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s account was used to access the servers several times in a bid to manipulate the results.
According to these lawyers, the IEBC chairman’s account had 9,934 transaction log ins from anonymous IP addresses that were used many times not only to modify files but also to delete and transfer the same.
Infact, during the results transmission at the Bomas of Kenya, the quiet Davis Chirchir sat at a corner as the results trickled in. His eyes were firmly glued on his laptop on both August 8th and October 26th.
Following his appointment as Ruto’s chief of staff, various Kenyans had the following to say about him:
“From his home, Davis Chirchir could make anybody an MP, Senator, MCA, Governor or President and he did! There were ZERO consequences for that in 2013 and Zero again in 2017!”
“Davis Chirchir is the Man who logs in and out of IEBC servers as he pleases.. moving to the office of the Deputy President 100 days to election. Dp Ruto knew what he meant when he said ‘Tulijipanga kitambo'”
“The IT GURU is in the house. The algorithm he will introduce for 2022 will make 2017 electronically rigged election look elementary ✍?”
“He was the cool guy until they brought in Chris Msando RIP. They could not match his brains so they killed him. Do you know why Uhuru has normalized using KDF another genius from the lake will come to compete what Msando started. Wamezoea kucheza na maisha ya watu Not this time.”
“Is he the only hacker in this world? Mark you, all that a hacker needs is a Root Access to hack any system. If he did hack the iebc servers in 2017, then he already knows the vulnerabilities and buffer overflows to hack again. It’s same system from 2017, right? Wake up boss.”
“Davis Chirchir New Chief of Staff, office of Deputy President. Whatever you do with this information is entirely up to you.”
“Did ruto request for chief of staff? Abdul mwaserah is in office. Why is public service suddenly interested in office of DP when they had ignored it for the last five years? Hapa Uhuru anachafua ruto.”
“Davis Chirchir is a rigging magnate if you like guru. He wl easily facilitate rigging in favour of Ruto in conjunction with Chiloba while Raila is blinded not to protect his votes. Who is seeing what am seeing.”
