Charles Njonjo Denies That He Is Dead

Date:

The immediate family of Kenya’s first attorney general Charles Njonjo has come out guns blazing to deny the reports which declared him dead.

There had been reports for the better parts of Saturday night with both the local and social media handles claiming that Charles Njonjo passed on.

As a result, the family of the former attorney general described the death rumors as the greatest exaggeration.

They further added that Charles Njonjo was not only well but also enjoying his sweet weekend at his home.

“Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I am well and enjoying my weekend at home as we celebrate Utamaduni Day,” read the statement.

“Sir Charles Njonjo is well and enjoying his weekend at his home. Ignore rumours of his death.” Reported another source.

Njonjo was one of those greatest and powerful government officials in the former governments who influenced critical decisions that governed the country in the short and long term.

He was born when Kenya became a colony in 1920, and is currently 101 years old. Njonjo is the only surviving member of Kenya’s first cabinet in 1963 where he was appointed the Minister of Justice by the late president Jomo Kenyatta.

The ‘Duke of Kabeteshire’ served in powerful positions in the Government during his political career. He at some point served as the Director of Public prosecutions and elected as a Member of Parliament for the Kikuyu Constituency.
