Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has opened up that there has been an attempt on her life by employers working for the county government of Kitui.
Charity Ngilu made her sentiments while recalling an earlier incident where she escaped death by a whisker after fire almost took her life.
According to the Kitui governor, some unidentified faces who were after the life of the late Mwangagi are also determined to take away her life.
She confessed to a local newspaper that the incident has never vanished her mind to the extent of believing that those faces roam in the streets of Kitui just to get her.
“I know the people who killed my friend Martha also wanted to kill me and they were part and parcel of this same county government worker that I am now presiding over. It is very painful,” she said.
To make her fears real, the driver of the vehicle which almost ran over her was not only arrested but also charged with murder in a court of law.
In the meantime, the Kitui county government performed well in the just concluded 2021 devolution conference. The county government under the leadership of Charity Ngilu showcased a number of goods they produce locally.
They included honey from Kitui, hand sanitizer, local brew amongst others. While congratulating her county, the governor thanked everyone within the county government for making efforts towards their success.
