Deputy president William Ruto irked many people including Narok senator Ledama Olekina after he made another outrageous campaign pledge.
Ruto rubbed many people the wrong way when he promised Kenyan youth that he will create 4 million jobs if he is elected president in 2022.
The DP vowed to set aside Ksh100 billion for the creation of the 4 million jobs among the youth, if he forms government next year.

However, Ruto was put on the spot for making big promises in the past and delivering absolutely nothing.
In 2017, Ruto promised Kenyans to create at least 6.5 million jobs while campaigning for re-election, translating to 1.3 million jobs yearly.
The most famous promise Ruto made in 2017 was 11 stadia, the DP said plans were underway to construct world class stadiums which were never to be.
“In six months’ time, the stadium in Wote will be complete as will that one in Chuka. In three months, the stadium in Moyale will be complete. In six months, another stadium in West Pokot will be complete and that will be historic. In a couple of months the stadium in Kiambu will be done. In a couple of months Nyeri stadium will be done. In Kisumu and Mombasa we have a few challenges, but once sorted, the stadiums will be ready, so instead of five (we promised in 2013), we have gone for 11 just to make it better,” Ruto said.
When asked in 2020 why he failed to deliver on the stadia he promised, Ruto said the 11 stadia could not be built because the money set aside for them was directed to other government projects.
The past unfulfilled campaign promises Ruto made is making many people doubt whether he will deliver on the current pledges he is making ahead of 2022 election.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina said Ruto must have smoked special bhang when he promised to create 4 million jobs if he is elected president in 2022.
“We are not stupid how on earth will Ksh 100 billion create 4 million Youth jobs ? WSR who is advising you ? Hii bangi Mbegu yake iko na uchawi!” Olekina tweeted.

The Narok senator further added that;
“What the youth in Kenya want is economic enablers not free cash! Good roads , access to markets , affordable health care, access to clean drinking water, Tax cuts and markets protection from dumping from China!”

Several Kenyans also angrily reacted to Ruto’s campaign promise:
DP WILLIAM RUTO PROMISES
1) William Ruto Promised 4 million Job Opportunities to Kenyan Youth.
2) William Ruto promises Kshs. 100 billion to unemployed youth.
3) Ruto promises 1 million to Mtito-Andei Sex workers.

Ruto went from six stadiums to nine. To make it look better. He's moved from 1 million jobs and is now championing the creation of 4 million jobs. To make it even better.

Since 2013 Ruto hasn't proved that he can even create 100 jobs for the youth but somehow suddenly he wants us to believe he will create 4 million jobs. Man needs to be realistic just for once https://t.co/ZcRcIsPSiQ

The same @WilliamsRuto who promised they would create 1 million youth job every year in 2013 is here again promising 4 millions job for the youth.

Can 100 billion create 4 million jobs for the youth. William Ruto, break it down and tell me you are right. Nonsense.

Today @WilliamsRuto is promising 4 million jobs if elected.
2013 : Ruto promised jobs.
2017 : Ruto promised jobs.Kenyans must be dumb to buy his lies. #sundaylive

Ruto promises Kakamega residents 4 million jobs in his countrywide tour to add more promises to the ones he made in 2013 and 2017. I like how the guy is already allocating hundreds of billions to imaginary projects as youths cheer him.

Today Dr. William Ruto promised 4 million jobs per year if elected President. Remember they promised 1 million jobs per year in 2013/7 and achieved less than that, 80% of which were informal jobs.
When they tell the lies, you tell the lies.— ianmnthiga (@iamyou_254) October 25, 2021
Ruto Promises 4 million jobs for youths, 1 million to sex workers and 50 Billion to SMEs.
Raila Odinga on the other hand has promised to cancel helb loan debt, and turn it to a grant, revive Agriculture sector and give 6000 to vulnerable families.
In whose hands are you safe?

Ruto owes Kenyan youths more than 3 million jobs from 2013-2022. He has now promised to create 4 million jobs if elected as president come 2022. 7 million jobs promise from one individual who has zero track record.#MondayReport

William Ruto promised youth 4 million jobs a year. The problem with that is that it's just a promise with no plan and a recycle of the jubilee agenda. Rather he sticks to the bottom up model.
