Singer Esther Akoth alias Akothee has come to the rescue of a Kenyan comedian who was kicked out of his house since he could not afford to pay his rent.
Taking to his social media account, Akothee who didn’t mention the name of the comedian said, the comedian has been sleeping in a hall in Nairobi streets for an unknown period.
“As we are talking right now, a comedian is sleeping in a hall, kicked out from his house, I don’t know how long he has been there with this Nairobi cold, I have asked to go fetch him,” Akothee wrote.
The mother of five said she would send the stranded comedian some cash to pay for his rent.
Akothee added that she would also call some politicians and government officials to help raise some cash and help Kenyan celebrities who could not afford to feed at the moment.
“I will call a few government officials who are my friends and see if they can assist me with something I top up with what I have and see if we can save the celebrities who are not able to feed for now,” she added.
On her page, the Mombasa based singer also expressed her sorrow of what many people are going through during these hard economic times brought by the coronavirus pandemic.

Akothee’s statement comes at a time when most Kenyan artists and comedians are facing harsh economic times since they can’t perform and earn for themselves following government directive for the public to keep social distancing to curb the spread of coronavirus. Most Kenyan artists depend on social gatherings to earn a living but since the government has banned them, they are left to face the tough economic times the hard way.
The news about a comedian sleeping on the streets of Nairobi comes barely a week after Churchill show comedian, Kasee died from alleged depression and alcoholism.
