Things are getting heated as days go by. Here are the top politics headlines this week:
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo has said Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka should be impeached. He commented on Thursday after Lusaka adjourned the debate on the disputed revenue formula for the fourth time.
The lawmakers failed to agree on a formula on Thursday despite weeks of negotiations.
“We should impeach speaker Lusaka for adjourning the senate unlawfully! Bure,” Mutula Jr said via Twitter on Thursday.
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina agreed with the post.
“I agree we can’t adjourn the Senate like a village meeting ….” he said.
Speaker Lusaka was on Tuesday forced to defer the debate to Thursday after a Senate business meeting convened to deliberate on the formula before it is slotted in the Order Paper failed to agree.
Lusaka appointed a small team of the Senate Business Committee to work with the Finance and Budget Committee to seek consensus.
At least 25 senators had by last Friday rejected what they termed as a divisive formula.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is currently on holiday in Malindi, Kilifi County with the family after returning from Dubai where he underwent minor back surgery.
Raila’s brother Oburu Odinga has allayed fears that his illness had recurred, clarifying he was working remotely and was even visiting the gym.
“Those people who are still saying that Raila is sick are mistaken. He is extremely healthy and back to the gym in Malindi.
“He will be back soon with vigor,” explained Oburu while addressing a gathering in Alego Usonga.
Reports emerged that Raila had escaped the chilly Nairobi weather to more warm coastal weather to accelerate his recovery from surgery.
According to several sources, Raila has been on holiday at a residence rumored to be owned by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho in Casuarina, Malindi.

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he has a secret pact with Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga on how they will work together in 2022.
Mr. Musyoka said the pact is separate from the 2017 National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition agreement that included Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula, and Chama Cha Mashinani’s Isaac Ruto.
According to Mr. Musyoka, even though Nasa is dead, he has signed an agreement with Mr. Odinga on how they will approach the 2022 elections. He refused to disclose details of the deal to this writer but said it was entered into without the knowledge of the other Nasa principals.
“You cannot just assume that since I was the deputy to Raila, then ODM has to support me,” he said. “These things have to be done expressly, which is what we have done under a separate arrangement that I can’t disclose at this stage. The arrangement is between Raila and I and not with the other parties in Nasa. I am not free to talk about it because it is a highly confidential matter,” said Mr. Musyoka.
Former Lang’ata MP aspirant Douglas Kithyaka on Thursday, tore into radio presenter Jalang’o over his planned 2022 bid to represent the constituency in Parliament.
Kithyaka, a well-known political operative born and raised in Lang’ata, was criticizing the popular presenter’s apparent approach, Kithyaka cautioned Jalang’o that the political scene was very different from radio broadcasting, asking him to first seek counsel.
Kithyaka, who ran in 2013 and 2017, warned Jalang’o of the challenge area MP Nixon Korir faced, being an outsider, before clinching the seat in 2017.
“If you see Jalas, tell him to come slowly. This is not Kondele in Kisumu County. It is not a joke, let him ask Korir.” He said.
