Ruto’s Presidency Cause War Of Words Between Kalonzo And Muthama

Date:

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said he is ready to contest for the presidency against Deputy President William Ruto, telling off those calling for him to deputized Ruto.

Speaking in Muthetheni, Mwala Sub-county, at the burial of Samuel Mutuku Mulu, the firstborn son of the late Joseph Mulu Mutisya, Kalonzo said he does not need politicians like Johnstone Muthama for his presidential ambitions.

Musyoka spoke after Ukambani leaders engaged in a war of words over the vote and other national issues.

Ukambani legislatures allied to the Deputy President said the former vice-president had done nothing to ensure they are appointed to government offices.

Former Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama said those threatening political leaders supporting Ruto will be chased from Ukambani and compelled to accept democracy as their votes are not enough to make them president.

Muthama further stated that those in support of Kalonzo Musyoka should form delegations from other parts of the country to widen their support base.

He explained that he is backing Ruto because he is a man with a stand, who fights despite intimidation.

“I am not with Ruto because I need anything but because of the people. I was in Wiper but I am in shock that the government you are supporting removed the leadership at Nairobi County,” he said as reported by Daily Nation.

He, therefore, warned that he will not accept Kalonzo’s “disrespect” in his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kalonzo who has also been criticized for not taking a firm stand on political issues responded to the accusations saying he now had “his mind” as a senior counsel and that he drew lessons from his 2007 attempt at the presidency.

The Wiper leader said currently his minimum where the 2022 vote is concerned is on the ballot.

Hitting back at Muthama, Kalonzo said, “This is my riddle to Muthama; do you think Kalonzo can be Ruto’s vice president? This is my question to you. Do you think my respect can allow me to deputize Ruto?”

“This time around I have decided I do not need anyone to negotiate on my behalf. I will not be sold like a cow in the market. Brace yourselves .… be ready because I am tired of disrespect by those always undressing me in public,” Daily Nation quoted the Wiper leader.
