Troubles for Kirinyaga Governors seem no to be ending any time soon as the county MCAs kicks out three MCAs allied to her County Assembly sittings.
The three have been suspended for between four and six months for creating commotion during the governor’s impeachment.
The County Assembly’s Powers and Privileges Committees expelled MCAs Lucy Njeri (nominated), Anthony Munene (Karumande), and Patric Chomba (Karumande) for six, five and four months respectively for the creating disorder in the House and using parliamentary language.
According to Kiine ward MCA Johnson Munene the committee resolved to expel the three for their unbecoming behavior.
“They caused chaos and misbehaved during the impeachment motion debate. They also defied summons by the Powers and Privileges Committee where they would have defended themselves and apologize. So we took the disciplinary action against them and suspended them as per the weight of their cases,” Munene who chaired the committee told the press.
In their defense, the three expelled MCAs claimed the Assembly was punishing them because of their unwavering support to Governor Waiguru. They have vowed to move to court to challenge the decision.
“The truth of the matter is that we are being fought for standing by Waiguru during the impeachment. How will I serve the electorate when I’m barred from Assembly sittings?” Chomba posed.
Njeri on the other side said her constitutional rights were being fringed while the people of Kirinyaga suffer during the suspension period and she will petition her suspension at the High Court.
MCA Munene questioned the law that the County Assembly used to suspend them for differing on the debates happening in the house.
During Waiguru’s impeachment motion at the Senate, the pro-Waiguru MCAs led by Munene tried to disrupt the debate claiming his signature in support of the notice motion was forged.

“That was not the document that I signed,” he protested, even as County Assembly Speaker Anthony Gathumbi ruled him out of order.
Things went out of hands when Majority Leader Kamau Murango accused Munene of being drunk, which the latter did not take kindly hence triggering a bitter exchange of words.
MCA Njeri gave Munene support during the exchange and claimed the speaker had taken sides of the debate.
