“Reckless Mouthing” Trevor Ombija Ruthlessly Trolled For Defending His “Girlfriend’s” Noisy Restaurant

Date:

Citizen TV News anchor Trevor Ombija has found himself on the wrong side with a section of Nairobi politicians, residents, and Kenyans on Twitter following the ongoing war on noise pollution that has been targeting bars and restaurants located in residential areas especially in Kileleshwa..

This is after he shared details of how the problem could be approached in what looked like a discussion aimed at finding a permanent solution for the problem.

“One thing that I would like to propose as the chair has already said is that when there is a complaint against a bar owner or restaurant let’s have more than half the people complaining. If the apartments are 20, 15 of them should show us the lease, sign and tell us this is the problem,” he said.

Trevor added that he offered a solution to one of his neighbors who had been affected by his noisy restaurant but she rejected.

“This particular neighbor of mine I even offered to soundproof her house. I started by her roof, she said no,[I Should soundproof] the entire house. I said okay, for me to do any soundproofing for the entire house I will need to get a permit from the county government. Show me your lease, get a confirmation from the landlord and they are okay with me soundproofing your apartment she refused. Now what she does, she puts stones outside on the road saying many of my customers park outside her apartment therefore it is a security concern,” Trevor explained.

His remarks irked politicians such as Kileleshwa MP Robert Alai who has been on the forefront of advocating for closure of bars and restaurants in residential areas and lawyer Nelson Havi who unsuccessfully vied for the Westlands parliamentary seat

“If you want to see madness in the entertainment industry in this country, see this. The owner of a noisy entertainment joint in Kileleshwa offering to soundproof homes. Do we still have people with brains around? We show you a lease? Sit down fool!” Alai said adding that the restaurant Trevor was defending belonged to his girlfriend.

“Trevor Ombija, if you are the noisemaker, you shut your mouth. You don’t offer to seal our ears. Noise pollution must be contained,” Havi said.
