Didmus Barasa Goes Missing After Shooting Dead Opponent’s Aide

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa is said to have gone into hiding after shooting dead his opponent’s aide.

Barasa shot dead Brian Khaemba’s aide while at Chebukwabi polling center. 

According to a police report as recorded by Khaemba the incident occurred at 6 pm when Khaemba had gone to the station to observe the counting of ballot papers.

“It was reported by Mr Brian Khaemba a DAP-K MP aspirant Kimilili Constituency that today at around 1800hrs he had gone to Chebukwabi polling station to witness the counting of votes and upon entering the said polling station,he met Hon. Didmus Barasa the incumbent MP for Kimilili constituency,” part of the statement read.

Moments later, Khaemba decided to leave the station only for him to be accosted by Barasa and his men.

“After about three minutes, Mr. Brian Khaemba decided to leave the station and headed to his car Reg. No. KCR 050J where Hon. Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him(Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave the place but Mr Khaemba’s driver Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle.Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled,” the police revealed.

The victim is said to have succumbed to the gunshot injuries while undergoing treatment at the Kimilili subcounty hospital. Detectives from Bungoma county have since visited the scene of crime to process and document it.
