Retiring At 43? David Sankok Clears The Air After A Reminder On His Plan To Send Baba To Bondo

Date:

Nominated senator David Ole Sankok is facing a backlash on social media after reports emerged that he has decided to quit politics.

This is because the vocal lawmaker had brushed shoulders with some politicians and mainly ODM leader and former prime minister Raila Odinga, whom he never shied away from attacking and insulting. Sankok is one of William Ruto’s allies who had vowed to take Odinga to Bondo.

A section of netizens have laughed at him  for deciding to go home even before he could execute his plan.

“A reminder Nom. Senator Sankok has retired before Baba,he had promised to send baba to retirement in Bondo. I tell you don’t compete with an Elephant,” read a comment on Twitter

In an interview with Spice FM on Monday July 4, the lawmaker said that he was taking a break from politics to concentrate on his personal businesses.

“The issue of contesting is a personal decision. I decided this time round not to seek any elective position. I need to focus on my businesses because I started engaging in the advocacy of people with disabilities at a very early age, so I never had space to develop myself and that is what it is,” he said.

Sankok has however been forced to clarify what he meant  because lots of reports indicated that he had completely retired from politics.

In a Tuesday morning interview at TV47, the politician denied claims that he had retired from politics at the age of 43. According to him, he does not intend to vie for any seat or defend his nomination in the coming elections but that does not mean that he has turned his back on politics.

“I said I am not going for any elective seat just like my brother and friend prof. Kindiki, Sabina Chege, John Mbadi the ODM chairman. Not going for an elective seat does not mean retiring from politics. If you see me very well at the age of 43, yet we have people at the age of 80 still in politics. DO I look like someone who can exit politics,” he said.
