Mudavadi Speaks On Backing Out Of 2022 Presidential Elections In Favour Of Odinga

Date:

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that he is not going to step aside from the 2022 presidential race.

This is because plans for him to run for the position in the August 9 General Elections are already at an advanced stage and no one will make him back off.

Mudavadi said that he has started putting aside the infrastructure needed for the race.

“I am looking at nothing less other than being on the ballot. That is my target. I am offering myself to the people of Kenya so that I can serve them as their president come 2022,” Mudavadi said.

According to the ANC leader, his party structuring is on the final stages before he launches his presidential campaigns as talks with One Kenya Alliance take shape.

He revealed that his manifesto is ready and he will be launching it soon.

The former vice president denied claims that he was under pressure to shelve his presidential bid while saying that Kenyans are the ones to decide who will be the country’s next president.

“Nobody should hoodwink Kenyans into making a decision on whom to vote for come August 2022,”  Mudavadi stated.

According to reports in recent days, Mudavadi is facing pressure from Jubilee to abandon his presidential bid to pave way for ODM leader Raila Odinga, who is believed to be president Kenyatta’s preferred candidate.

Mudavadi also denied claims of being eyed by Deputy President William Ruto while insisting that the only talks he has been having is with OKA principals.

“I am very focused on where I want to go. I am focused on seeking the presidency of this country. And if there is anything that will warrant that conversation, I will not shy away from telling Kenyans that I am in a conversation. But I want to tell Kenyans what many are dealing with now are mere rumours more than anything else,” the presidential hopeful said.

ANC has already endorsed Mudavadi to be the flag bearer in the coming general elections.
