As 2022 looms, a number of people both in and out of social media handles have gone a notch higher to compare the current events around Raila Odinga from the Luo community with the tribe of Israelite from the Bible.
Apparently Raila Odinga started his bid for presidency in 1982 without success. Apparently it is believed that the opposition leader will be making his last stab at the presidency in 2022 which marks exactly 40 years of being in the political cold and political wilderness just like Moses and the Israelites.
The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before they could reach the promised land (Canaan) after they left Egypt, the land of oppression. The Canaan is currently called Israel as per the Bible.
As a result, most people believe that the Luo community have equally been in the desert for 40 years (2022-1982) under the leadership of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
For the first time, the opposition leader who has always been at loggerheads with the state seems to have changed tact and earned some favor in the eyes of the power wielders that have reportedly been denying him his so-called election victories.
One such person who recently brought the Luo Israelite comparison to the limelight is one political analyst by the name Odoyo Owidi.
According to Odoyo Owidi, Luos led Raila Odinga started looking for the presidency in 1982 and will be 40 years old by August next year when the general elections will take place.
Odoyo Owidi added that for the first time in history, Raila is somehow faced with a realistic chance of becoming the next head of state to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.
“My fellow Luo community wherever you are, as far as we have been in political cold for long, i would wish to take you back to the Bible. We started looking for the Kenyan presidency in 1982.
“As at today we have been pursuing it for 39 years which will culminate into 40 years by August 2022. Even in the Bible, God blessed the tribe of Israel which stayed in the desert for 40 years prior to reaching Canaan.
“God even intentionally changed the elections dates in Kenya to August in a bid to ensure that the great Biblical prophesy is fulfilled at 40 years.” Said Odoyo Owidi.
Consequently, the political analyst urged the community to be humble as they wait for the presidency in 2022.
