How A Matatu Driver Threatened Passengers With A Panga

Date:

Passengers plying the Tajmall Utawala route were left in bewilderment after a driver threatened them with a panga for questioning him.

According to the passengers, the confrontations followed the driver’s decision to drop them halfway. According to one passenger going by the name Wilbert Oscar, the Embassava driver failed to drop them to their last destination and removed a panga when he was questioned by the passengers.

The stranded passengers further alleged that the driver and his conductor fought them and hit one of them before driving off.

Cases of drivers dropping passengers halfway are common in Kenya with drivers hoping to make many rounds and earn more at the expense of the passengers. The rogue drivers and conductors have perfected this art and the Embassava case is just one of those in the public limelight.
