DP William Ruto, who is out of the country, had the honor of being interviewed by one of the best media houses in the US.
The DP was interviewed by the Voice Of America on the Africa 54 show, but judging from the expressions on his face, he was not so comfortable with the tough and straight forward questions that were being directed to the interviewer identified as Esther.
It was evident that the DP was fumbling in getting satisfactory answers for his interviewer and the viewers in general.
First of all, the DP had no straight explanation on why he fell out with president Uhuru Kenyatta after they had lived like brothers since they had faced ICC charges with regard to Post Election Violence. The two would don similar clothes and enjoyed working together under the Jubilee government. That is now history even though they are still in government.
Ruto answered by outlining what they had achieved during their first term in government and finally said how the handshake ruined their plans.
Another question that Ruto was asked was why he can not stand Raila yet they were working together before he even started working with the head of state, the DP first sarcastically laughed off before saying,
“For your information, we started ODM all of us together, President Kenyatta, myself, Raila Odinga and many others. But when you work with people then you will discover that there are people you can work with there people you can’t work with.” He went ahead to blame the handshake for making Kenya lose direction.
At some point DP Ruto could be seen biting his lips when asked about the root cause of the problems in Kenya such as murder , hunger, incest among other problems and how he was going to deal with such during his administration. Ruto was dumbfounded until the interviewer insisted that she was waiting for an answer. He went on to claim that the interviewer has been reading social media too much as things were not as bad as she was saying.
Ruto also had a difficult time in explaining his hustler nation narrative yet he is swimming in billions. He has all along been in politics and at no moment has he been seen struggling with life.
Aside from that, he was also left in shock when asked about how he will deal with corruption especially when some of his allies have been mentioned in corruption cases like Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.
