Wiper party leader and one of the One Kenya Alliance Co-principals Kalonzo Musyoak is expected to cause an ‘earthquake’ in the political scene of the country.
Kalonzo is expected to address the nation on Tuesday March 1 at 10 am from the Command Center in Karen, Nairobi.
Among matters that he will be addressing include his personal experiences and beliefs as a leader according to a message from Wiper’s spokesperson Dennis Kavisu and more so his political stand.
Earlier on. OKA expressed its intentions to work with Azimio la Umoja ahead of the coming general election.
“We are open to the formation of a Grand Coalition known as Azimio la Umoja that shall be anchored on three pillars. As OKA we firmly believe in an open and structured dialogue whose basis is the promotion of national unity, upholding and respecting the dignity of all Kenyans and ending the culture of corruption and impunity and restoring the decency of living within our borders,” OKA said in a statement dated February 25.
Kalonzo also confirmed to president Uhuru Kenyatta that they will walk with him in ensuring that the country is united during Jubilee’s NDC. He however did not attend ODM;s NDC and only sent a representative saying that he was engaged elsewhere.
Even though the team is hoping to join Azimio, they will still choose a flagbearer, most likely Kalonzo, who will negotiate with the Alliance on behalf of OKA and therefore they came up with tough conditions that should be met before finally signing the deal so that OKA is not dissolved by Azimio.
It is however evident that even if OKA joins Azimio, Kalonzo he can not be given the presidential candidature because that is solely meant for Raila Odinga.
When it comes to the question of the running mate, the position has been secured for Central Kenya and the most preferred candidate is Peter Kenneth. Raila can not risk missing out on the central Kenya votes by settling on someone else as his running mate.
Therefore Kalonzo remains with few options including joining Azimio without much expectations in the meantime or ditch OKA and announce his sole candidature in the coming elections since OKA is keen on working with Azimio. This is believed to be the basis of Kalonzo’s press conference.
In the past, Kalonzo said that it will be stupid for him to support Raila one more time, and should he go by his words then he will be out of OKA.
