10 Prominent DP Ruto Supporters That Lost Bitterly In UDA Nominations

Date:

DP William Ruto’s party, UDA, conducted its nominations on Thursday April 14 in 36 counties  in preparation for the coming general elections.

The nominations were however marred by a series of rigging and violence in some places as some aspirants could not bear the pain of losing after spending a lot to popularize their candidatures.

Surprisingly, some of the big names in UDA and close allies of DP Ruto were shown dust in the nominations. Here is a full list of all the leaders

Charles Keter

Keter is a former CS in the ministries of Energy and Devolution. He resigned from president Kenyatta’s cabinet to seek the Kericho gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket. His ambitions have however been cut short after he was defeated in the party primaries with Dr. Eric  Mutai who is a university lecturer.

Cate Waruguru

The beautiful Laikipia Women Rep who has always been loyal to DP Ruto was shown dust by her opponent Ami Deddy. The two were contesting for the UDA ticket for the Laikipia East constituency.

Waruguru has however claimed that Deddy conspired with UDA officials in Laikipia to rig against her

Isaac Mwaura

Luck was also not on the side of the nominated senator who has never won any elective seat.

Mwaura was eyeing the Ruiru constituency parliamentary seat. He  had campaigned alone, walking from door to door and even putting posters on his own. His ambitions have been cut short by Simon King’ara. The senator has however rejected the results, claiming that the votes were rigged to favor  King’ara.

Caleb Kositany

The sitting Soy MP has been a vocal supporter of UDA  and once served as Jubilee Party assistant secretary general.

His loyalty to DP Ruto is unmatched but that did not pay off. The lawmaker was eyeing the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.

As the results were streaming in, Kositany was at number three after Chelilim Jonathan Bii who was leading the race and Bitok Julius.

Jackson Mandago

Mandago is the sitting governor of Uasin Gishu and he is serving for his last term. He intended to represent Uasin Gishu in the Senate through a UDA ticket but that did not materialize.

He was defeated by lawyer Oliver Kipchumba Karori.

Wilson Sossion

The former KNUT Secretary general and  nominated MP had his eyes on the Bomet senatorial seat.

Sossion intended to win a UDA ticket only for him to get defeated. He also complained of rigging saying that some ballot papers had been marked in favor of a particular candidate.

Joseph Boinett

The former Inspector General of police was also rejected by UDA members in the race for the Elgeyo Marakwet seat.

The ticket was handed to the current DP Governor Wesley Rotich. Boinett resigned as Tourism CAS in February this year to pursue his gubernatorial interests.

Jaguar

Jaguar was seeking re-election for the Starehe constituency parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket. He was elected to parliament in 2017 through a Jubilee ticket.

He has however been defeated by Simon Mbugua

Gathoni Wa Muchomba

The Kiambu woman rep was vying for the Githunguri parliamentary seat but lost in the UDA party primaries.

Peris Tobiko

Peris Tobiko is the sitting Kajiado East MP. She was eyeing for the Kajiado  gubernatorial seat.

Tobiko went viral when she hosted DP Ruto in her home against her husband’s wish last year.
