Efforts are underway to rescue three people who are trapped in a four-story building that collapsed in Mamboleo, Kisumu.
The building was still under construction when it came down last night.
County Commissioner Josephine Ouko said the other three have already been rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to te the County Commissioner, the six were construction workers at the building and were staying on one of the rooms on the lower floor that had been completed.
“The three who were rescued were treated at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital and discharged. We are with them here because they said they want to witness the colleagues being rescued,” Ouko said.
The police report says that Robert Gitau, 30, revealed that they were resting with five of his friends on the first floor of the building when it came down.
” Three of them managed to escape with slight injuries as but their colleagues were trapped,” the report said.
However, Ouko said they are in communication with one of those people trapped inside and still trying to establish the location of the other two.

“The operation is ongoing and we have received a good response from both the national and county response team and we hope within the next one hour we would able to rescued that one person speaking under,” she said.
the police boss further stated that they were going to engage experts to find out why the building came down to enable them to instigate legal actions against the owner in case there was any aptitude.
