“We have switched off the power connection for the safety of the public,” said Kenya Power official in a statement to K24.

This comes just days after at least seven people were killed and 14 others injured on Monday afternoon after a lorry rammed into traders at Keburengu trading centre on the Eldoret-Webuye Highway.

According to Kakamega County Police Commander James Ngetich, the lorry lost control and veered off the road, crashing into traders selling goods by the roadside.
