Every day, women get sexually harassed and raped. Be it in the workplace, at home, or in the streets, and instead of standing by them, they end up being blamed.
You dressed too provocatively, you shouldn’t have passed there, you gave him the wrong impression, you were drunk” and the list goes on and on.
No woman should ever have to go through this inconsiderate and inhumane violence. It’s an unforgettable experience that remains tattooed in the mind of the victim, and some never heal or go back to being the person they used to be.

Anita Raey
The Hot 96 presenter was raped at Jevanjee gardens when she was 15 years old. Anita Raey was leaving a club in the wee hours of the morning when two guys attacked her and her friend.
One of them hit her with a stone and when she woke up, she was in the garden and one of the guys raped her as the other held a knife to threaten her.
Anita Nderu
Media personality Anita Nderu revealed that she was sexually harassed in a matatu twice and once in a taxi.
Sharing the terrible ordeal on BBC, Ms. Nderu narrated how while in a matatu heading to work one morning she felt a cold hand on her left breast.
Shocked and confused she confronted the man who rudely asked her, ‘why do women have b00bs then? Are they not there for us to touch them?’
The mannerless man removed his hand and after raising the issue with the conductor he did nothing.
Lupita Nyongo

Adelle Onyango
Media personality and Social activist, Adelle Onyango was raped by a stranger in the street as she went back to her friend’s car to pick her phone.
Adele was 19 years old and a student at the USIU (United States International University).
She left her friends at club Changes and walked towards the Gypsies down Electric Avenue where her pal had parked his car.
A stranger who looked harmless offered to walk her there, an offer she refused and kept walking. The man followed her from behind and before she knew it, she was pushed to the ground and the man raped her on the grass.
The incident inspired her to start the foundation ‘NO MEANS NO’ which campaigns against the rising cases of rape and volunteer.
Esther Passaris
Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris was caught in the thick of sexual slur during a national television broadcast.
Miguna Miguna told Passaris on live TV hosted by Jeff Koinange, “Esther you are so beautiful, everybody wants to rape you.”

Instagram comedian, Brenda Jons of the ‘Plesdent Kingstone’ vines revealed that she was first raped by her uncle while staying with her grandmother.
She was just five years old and she couldn’t do anything or tell anyone since her uncle had threatened to kill her.
When she was 12, her uncle stuffed socks in her mouth and raped her again. He was a praise and worship leader in the church and no one would believe her if she reported him.
When she was 18, she was once again sexually assaulted by a pastor, who gave her Sh200 to make sure she didn’t get pregnant.
