The President of the republic, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta has become the first Kenyan to be issued a Huduma Namba card earlier on today.
The President who indicated that Huduma Namba cards are now ready for rollout to Kenyans was issued the Huduma Namba card by the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in Kisii County today.
Matiang’i also presented First Lady Margaret Kenyatta with the sample of the Huduma Namba card.
The President was speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the Gusii Stadium in Kisii County.
“We are now ready to start issuing cards to Kenyans…so that they can start getting them online and stop the long queues in government offices,” the president said.

Dr Matiang’i said the Niims (National Integrated Identity Management System) process is now complete and awaiting rollout after Parliament vets and approves the Data Commissioner.
The card rollout process will then take off soon after, he said, in accordance with court orders.
President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the issuance of Huduma Namba Cards during the 11th Mashujaa Day celebrations at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County.
Apart from the President and the First Lady, 10 other Kenyans received their Huduma Namba Cards whose national roll out awaits parliamentary processing of Data Commissioner.
