No More Mugoka And Miraa For Presidential Escort Officers

Date:

Presidential escort officer will longer be allowed to chew miraa and muguka

In a notice from the head of the presidential escort unit, the ban will take effect from July 6

This was signed by George Kirare who said the ban follows health risks the two substances have posed on the officers.

“Please be informed that it has been noted with a high level of concern by this office that chewing miraa and muguka is posing a lot of health risk to our personnel and their families,” read part of the notice.

The notice continued: “With effect from July 6, 1400 hrs, no Prescort personnel or civilian residing within the camps will be allowed to chew miraa or muguka within the camps or work station”.

From the notice, any officer who will go against the directive will be exposed to severe administrative action.

According to the study conducted in 2015, the consumption of miraa does affect the sexual capability of men and could lead to a heart attack.

The which was done by lecturers from Moi University and was commissioned by the Government revealed that miraa affects the mortality of sperms

According to the lead scientist Ochiba Lukanda, a similar study was conducted in the Middle East and proved that men who stopped chewing miraa and mugoka perform well in bed.
