Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) boss Mohammed Badi is now a member of the cabinet. President Uhuru Kenyatta on today witnessed the signing into the cabinet of Major-General.
In a statement sent to newsrooms by State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the president witnessed the taking into oath and subscription to the Oath of Secrecy by Badi.

The oath is a requirement of all persons who attend Cabinet Meetings or participate in the conduct of Cabinet Business.
“The Ceremony conducted by the Head of the Public Service was a precursor to the Cabinet Meeting held at State House, Nairobi on this Tenth Day of September the Year of our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty,” reads an excerpt of the statement.
Badi will henceforth attend all meetings of Cabinet and its Committees, pursuant to Executive Order No. 3 of 2020.
On Thursday morning, the president convened an urgent cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.
Reports indicated that key among issues discussed was the involvement of cabinet secretaries in political utterances.

The urgent meeting came days after Environment CS Keriako Tobiko referred to DP William Ruto as the president’s clerk which attracted backlash from a number of politicians.
Analysts say by incorporating the Major into the cabinet, the president wants to instill discipline in how his cabinet operates.
