Kai Havertz has hailed the impact of Frank Lampard in helping him make the decision to join Chelsea.
After weeks of speculation, the Germany international has finally signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £72million plus add-ons.
“I am very happy and proud to be here. For me it is a dream come true to play in a big club like Chelsea and I can’t wait to meet all the players and the trainers,” Havertz told the Chelsea website.
Havertz’s move eclipses Werner’s short-lived record as Germany’s most expensive footballer after he joined Chelsea for 53 million euros in June.
That is not the only record Havertz has taken from Werner.
Liverpool new boy Kostas Tsimikas has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with Greece.
The left-back fell ill after flying to Slovenia for his country’s opening Nations League and was immediately quarantined.
He then didn’t train with the rest of the team for three days and reports coming out of Greece claim that he has Covid-19.
A statement from the Hellenic Football Federation confirmed that a member of the Greek national football team had tested positive but didn’t name the player.
According to Greek outlet SPORT 24, that player is Tsimikas, who took a test carried out by UEFA, before the rest of the squad did the same.
The results of the other tests will reportedly be released on Saturday before Greece travel from Ljubljana to Pristina ahead of their second Nations League game against Kosovo.

United announced the signing of Van de Beek from Ajax on Wednesday on a five-year deal for a fee rising to £39m.
The 23-year-old completed a medical in the Netherlands on Monday and will travel to the UK after his country’s Nations League games against Poland (September 4) and Italy (September 7).
Van de Beek becomes United boss Solskjaer’s first signing of the summer transfer window and could make his debut against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on September 19, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Whether Solskjaer is able to fit Van de Beek into the same midfield as Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba remains to be seen, but De Telegraaf journalist Van der Kraan believes the Netherlands international was bought mainly for his ability in the final third.
