One woman, Ashpal Boghal Ghir, was arraigned and charged at the Kibera Law Courts for allegedly stealing money and other valuables from Miss World 1997 winner, Diana Hayden who is also an Indian actress. Hayden is the third Indian woman to ever win the coveted Miss World title.
The woman was charged for stealing KShs. 209,828 cash and also stealing her debit card belonging to Ms. Hayden in Nairobi.
The suspect appearing before Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani, the court was told that Ms. Hayden and Ghir were very close friends for a very long time before the incident that made them to fall off.
The incident took place between March 30 and April 9 at Galleria Gardens in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Ghir denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of KShs. 70,000 or KShs. 200, 000 bond with a surety of similar amount.
The case was set for hearing on August 4.
