Woman Claiming To Be Kiptum’s Baby Mama Shares Details Of Their Last Conversation

Date:

Edna Awuor Otieno, a 22-year old woman alleging to be Kelvin Kiptum’s baby mama, suffered a huge blow after the court failed to halt the late Marathoner’s burial.

The burial is set to take place on Friday and Awuor wanted it halted pending the hearing and determination of a case she had filed. In her case, she is seeking to be recognized as part of Kiptum’s family as well as a beneficiary of his wealth.

She also wanted the burial postponed so that a paternity test can be performed on their child.

Speaking to journalist, Awuor said that Kiptum had supported their child until his last breath.

“I came to court because I want to be helped. I have a child with the late Kelvin, he has been supporting the child but now that he is not there I don’t know who will help me raise the child,” she said.

According to her, the child is a girl and is one year and 7 months old. The last time he spoke to Kiptum was on the day he suffered an accident.

Awuor said that Kiptum was going to visit them.

“We spoke on the Sunday( the day he died), he told me he was coming to Eldoret. He told me he would visit us in the evening and bring me money so that I can buy the child things she needs,” she said.

Awuor further said that she got information about his death at midnight. She also claimed that she used to live with Kiptum during pregnancy but was forced to go back to her parents home after giving birth because there was no one to help her.

“I want the court to help me so that the child is known to be Kiptum’s like the rest of his children,” she said.
