On Thursday night, Raila Odinga had a dinner meeting with Azimio-One Kenya Alliance members at the Safari Park hotel in Nairobi.
The dinner was organized so that the ODM leader could express his gratitude to the coalition’s campaign teams for the effort they put in the August 9 general elections despite the fact that he lost to Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto.
Those in attendance included Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Nderitu Muriithi, Wycliffe Oparanya, Junet Mohammed, David Murathe, Sabina Chege, former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, Opiyo Wandayi among others.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was expected to attend the meeting but he did not show up. His close ally told The Nation that he skipped the meeting so as to avoid creating the perception that he is still in a campaign mood.
The source further revealed that Uhuru flew out of the country for a holiday immediately after handing over power to William Ruto. It is not clear where he spend his vacation but it was intended to relax is mind after the heated August 9 general elections.
He returned a week ago and is currently spending most of his time at his private residence in Nairobi. Ruto’s team was allegedly sent to meet with him over matters that are yet to be disclosed a few days ago.
