The Azimio One Kenya and the Kenya Kwanza alliance are once more expected to face off in the speaker race with Moses Wetangula facing off with Azimio’s Kenneth Marende.
Even as the two Luhya leaders face off in the speaker post, questions have been raised on how Westlands member of parliament Tim Wanyonyi will vote.
While others believe that Tim Wanyonyi will stand with ODM party and vote for Azimio’s Kenneth Marende, there are those who opined that the Westlands legislator will stand by his blood brother Moses Wetangula.
According to credible sources, Tim Wanyonyi will vote for Moses Wetangula as a revenge against Azimio after they dropped him from the Nairobi gubernatorial post in favor of Jubilee’s Polycarp Igathe.
It is said that Mr. Wanyonyi had invested in the Nairobi’s top seat and he was not happy with the decision that saw him mysteriously dropped from the race. As a result, majority believe that Tim Wanyonyi will stand by his brother in the speaker race and not the party since blood is thicker than water.
Despite the Azimio side having a majority of legislators on their side legally, ten out of twelve independent candidates have so far crossed to William Ruto’s side. Others such as Tiati MP elect of KANU has also shifted his allegiance to Kenya Kwanza.
The National assembly speaker race is expected to be very competitive with the two sons from Mulembe Nation facing off against one another. Despite being supported by the president elect, there are those who have argued that Wetangula may not have it easy because he is facing Kenneth Marende who had a good record as the speaker during the Kibaki regime. Marende was from ODM but he led the house fairly and firmly without favoring any side.
