Raila’s chopper urgently landed in the middle of the road in the county of Nyandarua.
According to a video clip in possession of Sonko News, transport in Nyandarua county was brought to a standstill as a chopper commonly used by the opposition chief touched the ground.
A few meters away, another chopper landed with words going round that it was to pick the Raila entourage that accompanied him to the mountain.
However, Sonko News has now established that the chilly weather of Nyandarua county made them to cut short their tour.
Also, Raila’s security details were concerned that it was getting late hence calling the chopper to come for the opposition leader. The two reasons made the planned rallies within Nyandarua county to end prematurely.
While there, the ODM leader reiterated his 6,000 monthly stipends for unemployed households as he maintained that he knows where the money for the program will come from.
To make people believe this social protection promise, he made reference to the free primary education which he together with former president Mwai Kibaki promised and fulfilled after taking over.
“My competitors claim it is an empty promise meant to hoodwink Kenyans to back my candidature, I want to tell you this is a debt that I will fulfill if elected. When Kibaki and I promised free primary education in 2002, there were many skeptics, but when we formed the government, we delivered the promise,” he assured.
He also took a swipe at deputy president William Ruto and challenged him to come up with better alternatives for Kenyan youths as opposed to just promising to issue them with wheelbarrows.
“Do you want to push wheelbarrows after school?” He posed.
Raila’s tour to Nyandarua came just a day after he landed from Dubai. Raila Odinga was in the U.A.E for a week to attend the ongoing Dubai 2020 Expo in his capacity as African Union (AU) High Representative on Infrastructure Development.
The world expo took place in Dubai from October 1st to March 31st 2022, and attracted 92 countries from different regions.
Apparently, each participating country was allocated a national day to promote its culture, trade, investment and tourism opportunity to the world. Kenya’s national day will be held on February 16, 2022.
Speaking at the Dubai Expo, Raila stated there is need to increase intra-Africa trade which he said was inhibited by poor infrastructure.
“One of the inhibiting factors has been the poor infrastructure in the continent and we have to ensure that the infrastructure in the continent is improved so that we can increase trade among African countries,” he said.
At the same time, social media was awash with news that corporate leaders attending the Dubai 2020 Expo gifted Raila a Ksh31 million Range Rover Vogue 2022.
According to information which went round, the Range Rover is fitted with bomb detectors and is also bullet proof.
“Baba Raila Odinga gifted a brand new car, a bullet proof and a bomb detector fitted Range Rover Vogue 2022, latest Model by corporate leaders at the ongoing Dubai Expo 2020, United Arabs Emirates. While announcing the good news, the corporate leaders have described the gift as a small recognition for Babas tireless efforts in championing infrastructure development, democracy and fighting for human rights both within Kenya and the region. The new Range Rover was launched six days ago and has all the latest technology including a hybrid engine. The state of the art vehicle goes for Kshs 31million. Baba is receiving recognition and endorsements even beyond Kenyan borders. Congratulations Baba Raila Odinga,” wrote Wanjohi.
