Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amollo Odinga has said that there is no problem with president Uhuru Kenyatta having offshore bank accounts.
According to the opposition chief, he has no issue with the recent pandora expose as long as president Uhuru or anyone out there is in a position to account for their money.
On his side, Raila Odinga made it clear that all his accounts and properties are in Kenya and that he has never contemplated having any property or any offshore account.
At the same time, the ODM boss raised the Mau issue, recalling how deputy president William Ruto’s team used it to incite the Kalenjin community against him. The opposition chief stated that the Mau issue was a cabinet decision and he did not deserve to be condemned since he was just an implementer.
With regards to working with the second in command, Raila said that he is not going to work with Ruto come 2022 because he is already running and he has declared his bid for the presidency.
Raila further took a swipe at DP Ruto’s hustler narrative and insisted that the wealth he owns such as several helicopters are a manifestation that he is corrupt to the core.
“Whoever advised Ruto to use the word Hustler misadvised him, Hustler ‘ni mtu mkorofi, mwizi na mtu mwenye anatumia njia za mikato’. Corruption is killing the country, one person cannot purport to be a hustler while he has many helicopters, giving money left right and centre… It is wrong.” He said while insisting that he is patiently waiting for the Kalenjin community to give me someone he can work with since he is still the Arap Mibei they used to know.
Nonetheless, the former prime minister stated that he is yet to declare his presidential bid because he is now focusing on uniting Kenyans through his “Azimio la Umoja” initiative.
He also rubbished claims that he is waiting for endorsement from his handshake brother president Uhuru Kenyatta. “I am not looking forward to any endorsement, the people of Kenya knows well who to elect.” He said.
