Purity Ngirici has vowed never to return to UDA even if the party decides to give her a direct nomination for Kirinyaga’s gubernatorial seat.
The Kirinyaga County Women Representative said that her experience at the party made her dislike the political affiliation.
In an interview with a local publication, Ngirici revealed that she was abused and mistreated by some members of the party as DP William Ruto watched in silence.
“Sometimes back, in our UDA WhatsApp group, I was humiliated and body-shamed by the likes of Aisha Jumwa but Ruto remained silent though he read the messages,” she recounted.
Ngirici denied allegations that she left UDA because her political rival, Anne Waiguru, had become a member.
“My issues are not mainly because Waiguru joined UDA but the bullying which is happening in the party,” she said.
She added that her husband was also dragged into the insults but he could not defend himself as he was not in the group.
“At one time I was insulted in the TangaTanga WhatsApp group where Ruto is. My husband too was dragged into it and called names but he was not in the group to defend himself,” Ngirici said.
While ditching UDA however, the politician said that she took her leave because she had been approached by leaders of the party to step aside from contesting for the gubernatorial position for the sake of Waiguru.
Ngirici was believed to be heading for Raila Odinga’s camp following some recent gestures but over the weekend Moses Kuria unveiled her as a member of his Chama Cha Kazi Party.
She however said that her supporters are pushing her to join Raila’s camp.
