Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has no plans of forgiving ODM leader and former prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
This is because Raila has not admitted his mistake of betraying him or even made a step of approaching him to ask for forgiveness.
Miguna felt betrayed after Raila went behind his back to unite with President Uhuru Kenyatta yet he had risked swearing him in as the people’s president after the 2017 general elections. This was among the reasons that he was deported.
“Forgiveness only comes if someone asks for forgiveness and before you can forgive any one, number one, they have to confess, they have to admit and acknowledge that they did a wrong. They must seek for forgiveness and they must fully account for it,” Miguna said in an interview with Look Up TV.
Considering that Raila has not done any of that, Miguna said that there will be no need for him to forgive the ODM leader.
“Maybe even without getting justice after they have done all of that you can forgive but Raila has not acknowledged that he betrayed me and he betrayed other Kenyans. He has not confessed to that, he has not sought forgiveness and there has been no justice or accountability for the betrayal so therefore there is no need for forgiveness,” Miguna said.
According to him, forgiving Raila without him admitting his wrongs is like he will be surrendering to him, just the way Raila did by accepting the handshake with president Kenyatta.
“If you forgive without those steps being taken, that is not forgiveness, that is surrender which is exactly what Raila did and you can tell where it got us. You see Raila surrendered without demanding accountability for Msando and other people’s deaths, Raila surrendered without asking for electoral justice, without asking for the IEBC servers to be opened, without asking for the reform or transformation of IEBC,” Miguna said.
