Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has turned down his appointment by President William Ruto as the Budget Policy Advisor.
Explaining the reason for declining the appointment, Rotich indicated that he was keen to return to the Central Bank of Kenya.
President Ruto had appointed Rotich as the Senior Advisor on Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy after the prosecution dropped charges against him in the Arror and Kimwarer dams case.
The prosecution had failed to demonstrate charges associated with Rotich to specific breaches under procurement and public finance management laws.
Before his appointment as a Cabinet Secretary in 2013, Rotich was the head of Macroeconomics at the Treasury.
He was removed from this position on January 14, 2020, and was replaced by Ukur Yatani.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi.
