Reports indicate that Kenya’s history making Daniel Adongo, the first Kenyan to play in America’s National Football League (NFL), Adongo, who had signed a lucrative deal with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013, is in a cult, into drugs and now homeless.
It is believed that things went downhill for the former rugby star in 2015 after being under criminal investigation for domestic violence.
A video of Adongo looking miserable and out of mind, went viral on social media, once again sparking the sad state that successful sportsperson goes through when depression hits hard.
Remember your rugby hunk Daniel Adongo? He got into drugs and some weird beliefs.
This is him currently.

For a while now, some of the Kenya’s sports legends have been neglected and left them to die in abject poverty.
Daniel put Kenyan on the American football map and now he is just suffering .
Kenya and the world are awash with sportsmen who rose from rags to riches and back to rags.
What is the problem? Is it the contracts? Is the money coming come too fast, and too soon for sportsmen ? Why don’t some of them see the brevity of their careers and start to save from their first paycheque?

Adongo, made a big money move to Colts 2013, ditching rugby union for American football in the National Football League (NFL).

The deal was then rumored to be in the region of Kshs 216 million. So who benefited? Did he just squander all the cash by partying? Or was it the wrong support system he had? Because as of now he has nothing to show with th money he had.
Experts attribute a number of reasons for the sudden change in fortunes for these big-name sportsmen who never recover after losing their money.
Career transitioning takes a real psychological blow to most athletes post-active era and to some extent end up depressed.
For ages, they have put in the work and suddenly it disappears especially when sound investment was not done.

It is a dicey situation considering most of them come from humble backgrounds and when they are not exposed to proper training on discipline and money utilisation, it becomes a problem in the future.
A lot of our sportsmen and women might get lucky to get early gigs especially with shrewd mangers.
However, almost none is taught how to manage their money unless they are based abroad.
If one is not taught financial discipline early in their careers, then most definitely they will fail.
