As the discussion on the withdrawal of court cases facing President William Ruto’s allies heats Miguna Miguna has said that Okoth Obado is the next person who will walk away free.
According to him, there is no evidence proving the former Migori governor was involved in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno with her unborn baby, which occurred in 2018.
Miguna says that the case against Obado was politically motivated to prevent him from campaigning against Ochillo Ayako.
“Okoth Obado is next. Impregnating a woman is not a crime. There is zero evidence that Okoth Obado murdered Sharon Otieno. I said zero,”
“Okoth Obado was charged to stop him from campaigning against Ochillo Ayako,” he said in a separate tweet.
Ochillo succeeded Obado as Migori’s governor after the August 9 general election.
Aside from the murder charges, Obado is also facing a corruption case of embezzling Kshs74 million public funds alongside his four children.
In July this year, the High Court allowed the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission to freeze Obado’s assets pending hearing and determination of the case.
His two high-end vehicles and residential property located at Loresho Ridge Estate, Nairobi was also seized.
“Pending the hearing and determination of this matter an order is granted that the monthly rental income of Ksh.143,000 derived from renting out of the Loresho Ridge House be remitted in the joint earning accounts in name of EACC and Mr. Obado,” justice Esther Maina ruled.
