What Jimmy Wanjigi Demands Of Raila As He Heads To Siaya After The Migori Chaos

Date:

ODM party presidential hopeful Jimmy Wangiji has decided to soldier on with Nyanza tour despite the setback in Migori where rowdy youth forced him to cut short his visit.

During the function at Maranatha church, rowdy youth threw chairs and stones at delegates, accusing Wanjigi of holding the meeting without proper consultations with the party.

The billionaire businessman held a press conference in Kisii where he called for tolerance for each other’s opinions.

Wanjigi escribed the disruption of his Migori meeting as an affront to democracy and that it should be condemned by the party leader Raila Odinga.

Wanjigi also vowed to continue with his tour of Nyanza, he said that he will still have to go back to Migori to campaign.

“I would not be cowed. We will be in Siaya county tomorrow (Saturday) and Kisumu on Sunday and later return to Migori. We will keep moving on. Democracy is for all of us and not for some of us,” said Wanjigi.

ODM leadership has also condemned the violence and called for arrest to the goons who disrupted Wanjigi’s tour.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has asked the police to investigate the incident and bring all the concerned to the firm grip of the law.

However, party officials have warned Wanjigi against demonizing Raila in Nyanza saying he will only invite trouble for himself by doing so.

ODM Deputy Party Leader and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has informed that the utterances coming from Wanjigi are the ones making him suffer.

“Wanjigi’s message was suspect as he appeared to rock the boat from within by discrediting the handshake. His utterances are worrying me… We have no problem with his ambitions but he must respect the leadership that is there,” Oparanya said.
