President Uhuru Kenyatta has lauded Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for setting aside his personal interest to support Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo attended the Azimio la Umoja NDC at KICC whereby his Wiper party and over 30 others signed an agreement to be under Azimio la Umoja to support the presidential candidature of the ODM leader.
Speaking during the event that was held at KICC, President Kenyatta said Kalonzo was better placed to become the president because of his ability but he had decided to shelve his ambitions for the sake of unity in the country.
“You see all leaders present here, none of them is unable to vie for the presidential seat of the Republic of Kenya. They all have the ability but many have set aside their desire and ambitions because they want to see Kenya united and the way I have said that there is none of us who can’t (vie for presidency) but there are others whose abilities are way above others and one of them is Kalonzo Musyoka who is seated before us.
“He has lowered his desire to cry for the nation of Kenya. I want us to stand and clap for him because he is a hero. We thank him very much,” President Kenyatta said.
The head of state went ahead to express his confidence in Raila saying that he has the ability to take the nation to the next level.
“Today, we have met here as delegates of different parties and we have chosen the one who will be the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya without any objection, Hon Raila Amollo Odinga. I have no doubt that he has the ability, the will and God will enable him so that he can ensure our nation moves forward in terms of development, unity and in fighting corruption,” president Kenyatta said
