Wanted Fugitive Kelvin Kang’ethe Believed To Be Hiding With His Brother

Police have established that Kelvin Kang’ethe, the fugitive wanted for the murder of his girlfriend, Margret Mbithu, in the United States is in hiding with his brother, after escaping from the Muthaiga police station  last week.

Kang’ethe escaped from lawful custody shortly after meeting his legal representative. He he was being held as the court was set to determine whether he would be expatriated to US to answer to the murder charges.

Kang’ethe and his brother are however unreachable on their cellphones.

According to investigations, Kang’ethe and his brother met on the day he escaped from Muthaiga police station.

“The two linked up moments after the suspect escaped  and they have since switched off their mobile phones. It is highly believed that they are together,” an officer privy to the investigation told a local media.

The suspect is currently being hunted down by several police officer.

Four police officers who were on duty when he escaped have since been interdicted.

Earlier, it was reported that the suspect’s phone signals had been traced in Kiambu and Machakos counties.

“A few hours after he escaped from Muthaiga police station his phone signals were traced to Machakos county. Officers are also aware the people he contacted during that period,” a DCI officer stated.

Kang’ethe murdered Mbitu in October 2023, left her body inside a car at at Boston airport and fled to Kenya.

He was however arrested on January 31, 2024 as he left a night club in Westlands.
