Kirinyaga governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru is set to be arrested anytime from now over the many corruption cases on her shoulder.
According to People Daily, Waiguru is likely to be charged alongside other county officials and members of the county assembly (MCAs) who accompanied her to William Ruto’s Karen residence on Tuesday.
The Kirinyaga boss while officially moving to Karen revealed that she fell in love with William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) during the mashujaa day celebration held in Kirinyaga county.
According to Ann Waiguru, the events which happened at Wang’uru stadium were a clear indication that the ground was with deputy president William Ruto.
The Kirinyaga governor further added that politics is all about remaining relevant and listening to the voice of the people since they are the ones who direct you on the direction to go and not the other way round.
“The bible says when you lack wisdom, you ask for it, James 1:5 and I have asked for wisdom and I think I have listened. I have checked with many of the members seated here, I have checked with others who are not here, I have even checked with people who are on the other side who haven’t officially said they are moving. I have asked, is it betrayal if I move?
But the message I have been given by everybody I have talked to is that in politics you must be very careful to stay relevant, you must be very careful to listen to the people because if you do not listen to the people, never imagine as a leader, you’re not the one who tells the people.”
Recently, Waiguru was grilled over the irregular payment of 52.8 million for a piece of land in South Ngiriama which she had earlier denied remitting funds to clear the payment.
The Kirinyaga governor was accompanied by her lawyers at the Integrity Center, which is the Ethics and anti corruption commission (EACC) headquarters.
However, the Kirinyaga governor termed her summoning and the raids as mere political witch-hunts after associating with deputy president William Ruto.
“Last time I said … ‘on BBI let me keep quiet a bit…’ immediately, EACC raided my office… Recently I said am ‘… introspecting on the political way forward…’ and again, immediately I get EACC summons, complete with all the subtle threatening inflexibilities… and media alerts on an alleged payment of 52m.
“The alleged payment was allocated by County Assembly – for a pending bill that was acquired in 2010, for subdivision, allocation and cadastral mapping of over 7000 acres of South Ngariama Settlement Scheme and which EACC knows has not even been paid.” She said.
