Kirinyaga woman representative Purity Wangui Ngirici was on Sunday forced to cut short her speech at Gichugu town after she was booed by angry youths.
DP Ruto had invited all the leaders to speak including governor Ann waiguru before finally welcoming Wangui Ngirici just after Waiguru finished addressing the roadside gathering.
However, all was not well for the woman rep as the crowd not only shouted at her but also waved their hands in protest.
However, Sonko News has since learnt that Wangui Ngirici was a victim of paid goons who were determined to shout her down in a bid to drive a perception that Waiguru was still strong.
Apparently, today’s Kirinyaga contest between the two women was based on whose goons would carry the day and it seems Waiguru planned her hecklers well.
While at it, both governor Ann Waiguru and the woman rep maintained that they will back deputy president William Samoei Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) come rain come shine.
Ruto on the other hand continued spreading his hate narrative towards the Luo community where he maintained that ni watu wa kung’oa reli na kupiga magari mawe.
As a result, he reminded the Kirinyaga residents to back him in 2022 because he was the best option for the community having stood with president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017.
In the meantime, goons belonging to Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru and Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici on Sunday morning engaged in a fist fight outside the Kianyaga Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).
According to a video in possession of Sonko News, the goons allied to Anne Waiguru and Wangui Ngirici burnt tyres and campaign t-shirts belonging to opponents on the road just to prove a point to each other.
The paid youths were standing and bullying themselves outside the church where deputy president William Ruto was attending.
The relationship between the two leaders who have not been seeing eye to eye worsened after governor Waiguru joined William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
This move did not however go well with Purity Wangui Ngirici who maintained that she had been more loyal to Ruto unlike Waiguru
While speaking exclusively to Citizen TV, Purity Wangui Ngirici welcomed Ann Waiguru to UDA but gave her a stern warning that she is still determined to go for her seat and be the next Kirinyaga governor.
As a result, the philanthropic Wangui Ngirici promised to not only win the general elections but to also defeat Ann Waiguru with a landslide at the UDA nomination stage.
“There are about 10 people who have declared their interest in the gubernatorial race, and I know I will be joined by others in UDA, so I would like to say karibu to UDA to Governor Waiguru, that is where the future is. What she didn’t see, I saw many years ago. I knew what the people wanted,” said Ngirici.
“The governor lost her ground a long time ago, immediately after she was elected, so it (her defection) doesn’t change anything. Actually, it just gives me less competition, because after nominations – and I know I will beat her – I’ll go and compete with fewer people.”
