DP William Ruto’s campaign in Vihiga was briefly interrupted by youths of two opponents vying for the Sabatia parliamentary seat.
Emmanuel Ayodi of ANC and Clement Sloya of UDA, both under Kenya Kwanza, are fighting to succeed Sabatia MP Fred Agoi who is in the race for Vihiga gubernatorial seat.
All hell broke loose when Ruto was addressing the crowd while advocating for peace and unity among the duo. Youths were however not convinced by the remarks and began shouting thus angering the DP who did not cease from giving them a piece of his mind.
“Youths, I want us to understand each other. Listen, you are now spoiling this meeting, let me explain, this is neither Ayodi’s nor Sloya’s meeting. This is Agoi’s meeting, are you getting me? So we need to have respect and if there is someone who has been sent to disrupt this meeting he should say early enough or leave this meeting, have you gotten me. Do you want Sloya to leave? Be silent, he will get a chance to speak,” Ruto said.
As the crowd calmed down, one of the youths continued engaging him in a shouting match thus angering him further.
“You who are you to respond to me like that if you have brought nuisance here get out. You can not come here and spoil the meeting, please let’s respect each other. We respect all this leaders. We respect Dr. Ayodi and our brother Sloya but you can not bring chaos in the rally, that is bad manners,” the presidential hopeful noted
Ruto went ahead to state that as Kenya Kwanza, they had resolved to run respectful , peaceful and non-chaotic campaigns and as the leader of the coalition, he wouldn’t allow violence in their rallies.
“As the Kenya Kwanza leader I will not allow anyone to bring chaos in our rallies. I want us to agree because the government can not be formed with noise. Leadership can not proceed with chaos and conflict,” Ruto said.
