University Students Force Prayers On Elders After Flushing Them Out Of A Shrine

Date:

Kaya elders in Kaloleni were treated to a rude shock after Taita Taveta university students of Christian Union forced prayers on them.

According to reports, the elderly men were performing rituals in a shrine close to a church when the incident occurred.

The students claimed that the shrine housed demons and paraded them outside for the holy session.

Redeemed Church Gospel senior pastor John Maingi said that trouble began when missionaries who had visited the area with the aim of spreading gospel spotted the elders in the shrine.

“The youths who were in the area were irritated by the presence of the traditionalists who were in the shrines adjacent to the church while dressed in their traditional clothes, carrying out rituals. They stormed the shrines paraded them outside and began praying for them outside the shrines after claiming they had been led by the holy spirit,” Maingi said.

The elders however did not want to be prayed for but were forced to remain calm as the youths prayed for them since they believed that what they were doing was wrong

“There were scuffles witnessed because members of Kaya were not ready to be prayed for while the youth believed that whatever they were doing was demonic and had to remove their traditional clothes to pray for them ,” he said.

It took efforts of the police officers to restore calm in the area.
