Igembe South locals have been angered by DP William Ruto’s Running mate Rigathi Gachagua for ignoring them.
Apparently, the Mathira Member of Parliament passed by the area but he did not stop to address them as they had expected.
Led by Florence Kandia, the chairlady of Turandana fruit market, the locals said that they were shocked by Gachagua’s move.
Kandia noted that he was behaving differently from his boss who always stops by to greet and cheer them whenever he is in the area.
“Today we have been shocked. Mr. Gachagua, Ruto’s DP has shocked the people of Igembe South. He came and just passed like a person who was going to drink water. Please Gachagua, if you were a normal man and Deputy President, you could have stopped the car and listened to citizens, the young and old, you could have greeted us, you have wronged us today,” she said.
Kandia further questioned why Gachagua was not pleased with the Igembe people adding that he had made them very angry.
“Kindiki was a better choice for the seat. He would have talked to us and we would understand each other,” she said.
Igembe South MP Paul Mwirigi was not in Gachagua’s convoy. The locals demanded to know why Gachagua was not with him as well as other MPs from Meru County.
Others suggested that Ruto did not want to pick Gachagua as his running mate and that is why he delayed announcing him.
“It is like Ruto did not want him, he saw that the guy was not straightforward because he was forced on him. He wanted Kindiki because he is learned, he would have known how to uplift and run Kenya. That guy was only escorted because of money, they don’t have votes, he is not learned and has nothing suitable to be a deputy president,” another local said.
They further accused Gachagua of being a mole in the Kenya Kwanza while calling upon UDA to reconsider their decision.
