A report by The Standard on Wednesday, June 3, detailed that Kenyatta went on a 30-minute rant, highlighting how his critics were clashing with his agenda and asking them to accord him the respect he deserves.

Kenyatta was furious that the DP and his allies had opted to politick and engage in 2022 succession battles against him.
“If you don’t respect me, why don’t you at the very least just respect the office I occupy. You have branded me all sorts of names, but at least give honour to my office.

“I still have two years, just respect me for the remaining period. Jubilee agenda is not going to be completed in 10 years, and as I said, I will keep my word and ensure we have another 10 years to complete the railways, Lamu port and other key infrastructure projects that I will not have completed in the remaining two years,” Kenyatta urged.

People Daily added that Kenyatta was visibly angry, and warned Ruto’s allies not to undermine him nor take his silence for weakness.

“You will know me, I will be so hard on you. I know what you have been doing and how you have been referring to me. I am always given intelligence on each of you when you are still asleep,” Kenyatta ranted after Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju ushered him in.

The President dismissed several requests by Ruto’s allies who wished to respond to Kenyatta’s tongue lashing, asking them to leave immediately after he finished his speech.

Only Kenyatta, Tuju and DP Ruto spoke at the function. Ruto, while speaking maintained his calm and offered support to Kenyatta.

“The DP did not say much, all he said is that he was behind the President and that the PG meeting was Uhuru’s day,” an MP disclosed.

“The President’s tone was terrible and thank God he even swallowed some words. He didn’t let them out. It was ‘either my way or the highway’.

The changes made in Parliament on the Jubilee side solely targetted MPs aligned to the DP. We have waited for a PG for three years and hoped we would deliberate on issues. Nobody spoke other than the three,” Soy MP and Jubilee Vice Secretary-General Caleb Kositany stated.

In the changes made by Jubilee, Garissa Town MP Aden Duale retained his National Assembly Majority seat as Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe replaced Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali as Majority Whip.

Igembe North MP Maoka Maore took over the Deputy Minority Whip’s role from Nominated MP Cecil Mbarire.
