President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his deep sorrow, remarking that Muthoni Wa Kirima’s departure has left a void that will be difficult to fill. He paid tribute to her as a remarkable warrior and one of the most respected figures of the Mau Mau freedom fighters,a group whose determination and sacrifices played a pivotal role in Kenya’s struggle for independence.

Uhuru Kenyatta highlighted Muthoni’s footprints in the forests where she bravely fought alongside like-minded leaders, all united in the cause of liberating Kenya from colonial rule and securing the rights of Kenyan citizens.

Her dedication to the nation’s political, social, and economic growth, as well as its freedom, independence, and development, remains an enduring legacy.

“She is, and will forever be, an integral part of Kenya’s rich historical liberation struggle and the success that followed,” President Uhuru noted. “Her memory will not solely be preserved for her bravery and courage but also for her commitment and service to Kenya.”

In her own heartfelt eulogy, Mama Ngina Kenyatta expressed her gratitude for the cherished memories and moments shared with Field Marshal Muthoni and other compatriots during a challenging period in Kenya’s history. She thanked the Almighty for the privilege of knowing and enduring together the difficulties posed by the colonial government.

“I thank God for the privilege and honor to have known and shared the very challenging difficult period in our country during the colonial government, together with many others, including Field Marshal Muthoni Wa Kirima,” Mama Ngina remarked.

President Uhuru Kenyatta took a moment to extend his appreciation to all the Mau Mau shujaa freedom fighters for their selflessness and dedication.

He acknowledged the ultimate sacrifices they made, which paved the way for Kenya’s present-day prosperity and progress.
